You Better Shop Around

At Hotel Burnham we have some rather addictive neighbors - and by that we mean shops we can't stay away from.

Directly across the street is BLOCK 37, a multi-use residential, retail and entertainment development that happens to house a few of our favorites: Anthropologie, Godiva Chocolatier, and PUMA. And that's just the beginning. The nearby Macy's flagship store not only has multiple levels of fashion, but a downstairs café, gourmet food department and historic semi-formal dining room. Just down the way is Akira, an independent apparel and accessories shop that happens to have one of the best shoe selections in the city. Apart from those, you can find all the favorites, from Zara to the Disney Store. That's not to mention that North Michigan Avenue (known as "the Magnificent Mile" or "the Mag Mile" to us locals) and its luxury designer boutiques lie just across the river.

If you're here over the holidays, see nearby Daley Plaza transform into a traditional German market called Christkindlmarket. The alfresco plaza becomes blanketed with wood cabins, each housing a different artisan vendor.

We hope you came with an extra empty suitcase.
